Saturday, 5th January 2013 Ice Climbing World Championships – open qualification for all!
Ice climbing arena at the Gemmi Lodge in Kandersteg, Switzerland.
The 3 best men and women will receive prize money totalling € 1800!
9 am Distribution of starting numbers.
9.30 – approx. 3 pm Competition and open qualification for all. 3 pm – 5 pm Men’s and women’s semi-finals.
From 9.30 pm Spectacular flood-lit finals!
Competition modes:
Mode for men’s event: The men must climb a qualification course and everyone who completes the course within the time allowed may progress to the 2nd qualification course. The best 12 men from qualifying will compete in the semi-finals. The best 6 climbers from the semi-finals will compete in the finals.
Mode for women’s event: The women must climb one qualification course. The best 12 climbers will compete in the semi-finals. The best 6 women from the semi-finals will compete in the final. The time taken to reach the same height is decisive. 
Non-cash prizes for all participants and prize money amounting to 1800 euros to be won. Competition is followed by a big ice climbing party in the Gemmi Lodge!
